Well hello, let me introduce myself.  My name is Tinamarie Mizzero. I am a divorced mom of 4. A soon to be grandma in March of 2008. I have been a BIG girl all of my life. My family has told me that I have had a , "pretty face," forever. I am currently suffering from pain you can't imagine in my left leg. Leg swelling in both of my legs, Sleep Apnea, GERD, and Major Depression. I am looking for friends from Schenectady or the Capital region who would like to become friends during this process. I was scheduled for surgery on June 7th, 2006, had all the testing, and was just about to start Medifast, and I got a phone call from Dr. Lirio's office. They told me that Medicare wouldn't pay, I have Medicare as Primary and Medicaid as Secondary, because Ellis Hospital wasn't a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. Needless to say, I was depressed as I have never been before. My mother passed away about a week later which put me in a deeper depression. I put on 50 pounds. I am seeing the new Doctor that just joined Dr. Lirio's practice, Dr. Vishnu Panemanglore. I went to my appointment on 9/14, and was told that all of Dr. Clark's appointments were cancelled because he had back to back emergency surgeries. He had no appointments available until atleast the middle of October. So, the secretary said she could get me in really quick with the new doctor. My new appointment is 9/19 @ 10 am. I am hoping and praying that I do NOT have to have all those tests done again... So, feel free to say hi and could someone please tell me how to put my picture up so everyone can see it?!?!?! *~*~*~*~*Tinamarie*~*~*~*~ Soon-2-B-Grandma

(as you said in the first quoted paragraph), why are you going to another Dr. affiliated with Ellis? I'm in Rotterdam, but had my surgery down in NYC because none of the groups around us did the procedure I wanted... but if I had went for RNY, I would have gone with Lirio/Clark (Panemanglore wasn't with them at the time) as I know a few people personally who had their RNYs done by them and they were very hapy with their care. Plus, followups would have been much easier to drive 5 min rather than 3 hours hehe. to put a picture in your avatar (the picture at the left near your name) .... Look over to the left side of the screen, you'll see the blue rectangle that says "Welcome, (user name)"... under that, it says "ObesityHelp New York Weight Loss Forum" with about 6 links under it... click on the link that says "USER SETTINGS"... that is the page where you can add an avatar, and edit your signature line if you want one. Good luck with your consult

Hi Tinamarie, Good luck with your process.  I had a long haul of it in 2003/04 when I was pursueing the RNY surgery and it took me a long time to get approved then through the testing only to get the worst doc in the world and finally I opted out.  Its taken me this long to decide I really did need the help of surgery and I went with the Lap band and its been 6 weeks for me and I am very glad I did do it and that my story is exactly what it is.   It helps me to know I was serious about this and ready.  All happened as it was supposed to happen. The second time I went to see someone was here in New York and that process took about 2 months.. it was crazy fast and here I am and I feel very good!  No complications thus far and down 39lbs.  I too have knee pain and that is a challenge but I know that one day it will be much better and I'm excited about that!  Just keep your head up and fight the fight.. its worth it! I am not in your area either but I sure don't mind being your friend here through the process.  Good luck to you!

Hi Betsy!

Thanks for the welcome!  I was going to AMC when I couldn't get to Ellis, but I wasn't too impressed with their program to be homest, IMO, but I am glad that you welcomed me. I am loving this forum!!

My one goal after surgery is the first thing I want to do, is to walk into Victoria's Secret and buy a matching Bra and Panty!
