Extremely frustrated & struggling
So I have been working on my 10% weight loss since April 10th. I had been doing very well up until recently. I began feeling very sluggish and was having a lot of muscle pains mostly in my upper back, shoulders and neck not to mention I had my period from June 27th unitl August 30th (ugh).
I finally went to the doctors and asked that my thyroid be tested. I have been hypothyroid since 2002 (diagnosed) and have had issues perioically regulating it. Well my TSH came back at 7.82 which explains why I have been feeling so crappy. But it also explains why I have been struggling witht he last 6 pounds of my 10%. On top of the thyroid my doctor has put me on birth control so I don't get pregnant right now (since this would be my luck) whenever I have been on the pill I always gain 10-20 pounds which is why I have been off of it since 1998. I finally decided to go see an endocrinologist and my TSH levels are still high so he has again adjusted my medications. But he has advised me to talk to the nutritionist, whom I see on Monday, and see if they will let me go ahead and meet with the surgeon (at Albany Med you have to have lost the 10% before you meet with the surgeon) because of the issues that I am presently having with the thyroid. Has anybody ever been held up by thyroid issues or not being able to meet your 10% due to issues that are beyond your control. I am so F******g frustrated, it seems that no matter how much exercising
I do nothing is working. The endo told me that at this point it's like fighting a losing battle until they get my thyroid under control. Any thoughts, I feel like I am beating my head against a wall. Ok the pitty party
is over now I promise.

Thanks Cheri it's just really frustrating to be working my A** off and see only a 2 pound loss in like 6 weeks. I will keep plugging along until I lose this last 4.8 pounds to meet my 10%. I spoke with the PA at the nutritionist's office today and she told me to get a letter from the endocrinologist stating that at this point my thyroid is affecting my sbility to lose and it definetly would be taken in to account. She then agreed to make me an appointment with Dr. Singh at AMC for November 1st. I should be able to lose 4.8 pounds by then, I freakin hope. Again thanks for the words of encouragment.

I spoke to the PA at the nutritionists office today and they stated that if I get a letter from my endocrinologist stating that I am having such a hard time because of my thyroid, not to mention the BC that they will take it into account I will keep up all of the workouts at the gym and the "biggest loser DVD work outs" (they actually make me sweat more that the gym, wierd) and hopefully by the time I go to my next appointment on 10/12/07 I will have lost the 4.8 pounds I am shy of my 10%. Oh and good news that did hook me up with an appointment with the surgeon for November 1st so that made me feel better. I certainly hope I can lose the 4.8 pounds by then. Thnks for the support Noralynn, I really needed it.
