... infection. I got home Thursday (by the way Lisa you were the perfect rooomate). Okay so I am pretty drugged up right now so forgive the errors. The pain is getting a bit better, but I must say this was not what I barggained for. A bit niave I guess.

It appears there is a foul odor coming out of the Penrose drain. It is yellow, ***** gross. The smell has filled the house and I am so sick by it I can not tolerate food.  So I called the doctor and he says this is normal (I beg to differ). He called in a prescription for Levaquin (which I am allergic to) but thanks to Lisa and her Mom the advised me well Okay I am tired and need to go rest. But thanks all for the good wishes. I must tell you it is good to know that there is another side to this and when I got on this site I quickly recalled why I did this! God Bless and Thanks Again.

Hi Lauren,  I'm sorry you're going through a tough time but you will recall the reasons you decided to to start this journey as soon as the pain subsides.  I'm 12 days out now and I still have some discomfort on my left side where the smaller drain was which I learned was stitched into the muscle.  I went most of the day without any tylenol which is a first and also went last night without the pain meds.  I'm due to go back to work tomorrow so I'll see how I survive that.  Please hang in there, sip, walk and take your meds you'll be bouncing back in no time.  You're in my thoughts!!  Jessica

Welcome home darlin!  I wish your pain and discomfort would go away.  I never had a drain, but can only imagine!

Feel better soon!

Lauren (my friend and  roommate), My heart goes out to you.  I feel so bad that you are suffering, but know I'm right there with you.  Here I am up at 2:30am once again. The nights stink the most. Obviously, the next week will be tough, but reading Lisa K and Jessica's posts are inspiring to find that they are going back to work already! Hopefully week 2 will be easier once the drains come out. Hang in there, my friend. Know that I am here for you if you need anything. We helped each other get to the loser's bench and now we will help each other get through this post-op period. Hugs, Lisa
