Not All People Are Mean! (A Happy Story!)
Just wanted to post about this. It JUST happened.
I live in NYC, and I love it, but face it -- we're not known for our kindness. I'm in a walkup home in Queens, 4 stories. I, naturally, live on the first floor. When I got the apartment, I was 250 lbs - did you REALLY think I would climb too many stairs?
Anyway...school has started, I just moved back into my studio, and I'm having TONS of deliveries. Mainly, my protein shakes from Los Angeles. AchievOne was stopping production, so I bought 10 cases and am having Mom ship them to me. I'm spoiled, okay? Now they're back in production, THANK YOU GOD!
So DHL kept trying to deliver, and called them and said "Please deliver after 5 on Saturday." They delivered at 12 PM this afternoon. Brilliant, I tell you.
So for some reason, they delivered it to apartment D2, which is the fourth floor of a walkup. Insane, yes?
So I went up to see what was happening, and carried one small package down. The other two were protein drinks, and I'm just not capable of lifting that much.
So I shyly knocked on the door, and they answered, and I saw the had a whole group of people in there and I felt SO bad for interrupting, but explained my predicament.
It wasn't even a QUESTION. The owners of the apartment came out and carried my heavy boxes down flights of stairs. They were so nice, and just kind people who were more than happy to help others.
My faith has been restored until tomorrow morning!
(x-posted to the NY board!)
That's awesome!!!!!! There is good out there.
I have tomorrow off. My sister works in Manhattan and was missing until evening on 911. I will never again work this day. I visited Ground Zero 3 weeks ago. It was the 1st time I have broken down. I guess I had to be strong for the teens I bought down on a field trip from upstate.
