I'm not exactly sure why only that I was told that due to the stomach being made smaller there is a higher risk for damage by the NSAID's and yes long term on them does damage. I've been taking it for about 4 yrs now and I was only taking 5 mg. 2 times a day which is a very low dose. Therefore I was still unable to do a lot of walking but it was alowing me to function at work daily etc.
I'm gonna ask my surgeon this question and I'll let you know what he says.
Hi Karen, Yes, we are aloud to take advil from time to time but not long term. I need more than what advil can do to help my pain. Long ago I had to go from advil to the NSAID (voltaren) Everyone says its possible that I will be able to manage the pain once I lose the weight I need to lose but judging by the pain I'm since not being able to take the Voltaren I'm thinking I might just be losing the weight to have knee surgeries, which is what I have to do and I'm ok with that. My hope is that everyone is right and I can function for a long time with out having to have surgery. Will see.
