Hi everyone,  Well here's my story Tues the 4th I went in to have my gallbladder removed it wasn't an emergency but it needed to come out. Any way while I was having the gallbladder removed they found an internal petersons hernia and repaired that as well. My problem is that  anyone i speak to about recovery says that I should be fine in  a day or two including the Docs.THe problem is that I am very naseous I'm in  ALOT of pain overall I feel like total crap. I was just wondering if anybody has ever experienced these types of symptoms post op. I am so scared because my bypass didn't go as planned and god knows I do not want anymore complications I just want to get on with my life Thank you all for your support. Hugs Lori.

Hi Lori, So sorry to hear your in so much pain!  My thoughts and heart go out to you! As far as the pain your feeling I think its pretty normal.  I had gall bladder surgery and it was done laperscopically so I was told I should feel better within days to a week.  That isn't what happened.  I was in pain for much longer.  The first week it just HURT, after that each day it hurt less and less.  But I didn't feel good to go for at least 3 or so weeks.  You have a double wammy having to have the hernia fixed.  Those do hurt a lot!  My x husband had to have a hernia fixed 2 times. He did have vomiting involved the first time I am not sure the second.  But that was just for the first couple days.  I would diffinately call the doc if it goes on longer than a couple days.   Both times he was told a week and back to work.  The first time he had to take an extra week off cuz it was still pretty painful for him and he wasn't up for working.  When he did go back he had light duty for a couple weeks, till he felt like he could do his normal job again.  I think it depends on your hernia and where it is.  I just wish the doctors would prepare you more for what could happen.  Its just that its so different for different people.    Get plenty of rest, it helps the healing process!

Lori,
Whenever you have symptoms that concern you, especially right after surgery, you should be calling your doc and discussing them. While we can provide emotional support for the challenges of WLS, you need to get your medical advice from your surgeon. Please, call your doc and touch base about your symptoms and keep us posted!
