Ok, now that I have my date and I have gone for bloodwork and am getting excited I just got a phone call from my PCP saying that my thyroid is off a bit.....ugh!!!  In all the years I have been tested I have NEVER had a thyroid problem.  I really don't need this right now because they say it's possible the insurance could blame all my weight issues on that.  I hope they retest and it's fine!!!!   Anyone else ever have this happen?

Yep I had that happen to me!  after all my blood work I found I had H-pylori as well as my thyroid being " a little off"  LOL  I think my GP told me it was " a little low, but we would deal with that later".  I did have my approval before this point so I can't tell you if it will affect things for you.  I don't think so though.  The only thing my insurance company ( UnitedhealthCare)  requested was 5 yrs proof of my weight.  I had to call Calif and get my old Doctor to send them.. they faxed it within a couple days and I got approval within a week.   As of yet, I haven't seen my general practioner and we still haven't addressed the thyroid issue. so its not that big of a deal or he would have wanted to see me already.   One step at a time, gf  it will all work out!    What insurance do you have?  do you know anyone that has a problem getting approved with your insurance?  I found that another of my hubby's co-workers had lap band surgery and she was approved even though she wasn't 100lbs over weight..but she had health issues.

Hi Sandra,   I appreciate your input!  Thank you!  I have BCBS of MA.  I think they are pretty good about approving but not sure.  I did call them when I started all of this to see what they would approve and what they based it on, etc.  I'm on hold as we speak with my PCP to find out how 'off' things are.  They already scheduled me to come in on Friday.  I'm hoping the insurance company will look at how many times in the past I have been tested and was still close to this weight when my thyroid was fine.   Thanks again!

Talked to my PCP...she said my thyroid isn't off enough to even make a 1 pound difference...yay!!!  She's noting this in my file so the ins. won't be a problem. The anesthesiologist just wants everything even and perfect for the surgery so that's why we have to address it.
