chicken vs. turkey?

Pretty similar, yes? Well so I thought. But my new tummy doesn't seem to think so. Chicken doesn't stay down at all. I've tried it several times over the last 3 weeks and end up praying to the Porcelain God. But I cooked a turkey dinner last night and felt wonderful, probably the best I've felt after any solid foods to date! Just curious if this is typical or my very own little quirk?

For me, after my initial problems, I've had no issues with any foods, but in reading other people's stories (and I read a few every day), that's a normal thing.  Chicken seems to be one of the foods that doesn't sit well, but as much as it doesn't, turkey seems to be ok.  I've read a few like that. So it might be more of a typical quirk! Hope things are going well otherwise! Sue

I had issues in the early stages with fish and chicken...I think because they were kinda dry.  I am now 4 months out and really don't have any issues with meat.  You system is just adjusting... Rosemary

I still have a problem with chicken.  It doesn't agree with me either.  Wait a couple of weeks and try it again.  It will get better with foods agreeing with you when you are a couple of months out. Hugs, Patty

Hello, friend! I didn't have problems with chicken or turkey, but everyone's different. I agree with a previous poster that you should give it a couple weeks and then try again. Your system is adjusting to food and your new pouchie may be throwing a temper tantrum. Just give it it's space, you know! Good luck! Jen Halliday

Thank you Sue, Patty, Rosemary and Jen,for your responses. It seems timing is everything, eh? I try to treat Princess Pouchie (heee...courtesy of Jen!) gently and go back to soups for a meal or two after the chicken reacts, and it seems to be fine. I just need to give it some more time.

For me then and now it all depends on how it is cooked. If it is moist and tender no problem. Then there is that occaisional time that the new tummy just says NO just because it can. And at 4 years out it still happens just not as often. Betty Jo

Chicken = good      Turkey = bad Don't really get it, but that's the way it goes for me.
