Had an awesome vacation!

Hi all, We got back on Friday from being away for a week (Ct, RI, and Mass).  We visited some colleges, but also did some sightseeing. I had a wow moment at BC.  We went to the bookstore and I saw these warm up jackets that I liked (and I'd forgotten to pack something in case I got cold).  I tried on a small, but found that it was a youth small so it was way too small, so I went looking for adult sizes which were fine, but twenty dollars more, so I went back to the youth sizes and tried on an extra large, which fit perfectly. We did some tours in Boston and Salem and it was a great bonding trip.  We did a lot of walking and swam every day in the hotel pool which was a lot of fun and freeing! There were two things that were unfortuate, tho.  My older son had taken summer classes so he didn't come with us. But the sad news was that while my son and I were touring Trinity College in Ct, hubby was outside looking for parking.  When we finished, he was outside on his cell phone.  His oldest brother had suffered a stroke a few weeks ago and passed away the morning that we left.  I asked hubby if he wanted to go back, but he said no, he would continue the trip.  His family is in Peru and all the preparations had already been made and his brother was waked and cremated the next day.  Hubby has not decided yet if he is going to go there and see the rest of his family yet or wait until we go there in June or July of 2008.  Since there is some division in his family with his siblings, please keep their family in your thoughts and prayers. I posted some pictures in my album and inadvertantly deleted my album with all my pictures from my WLS journey, so I will have to repost them when I get a chance.  The picture of my son and I in Salem in the album, I am wearing the BC jacket wrapped around my waist! Hope everyone is doing well in their journeys, I missed reading the boards while I was away. Sue

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is. - Ellen DeGeneres

I'm so very sorry about your brother-in-law.  The family will definitely be in my prayers.  I hope this tragic situation brings the family back together, for family is truly the core of our being.

Thanks, Cheri. My brother in law lived a long and active life, he was the oldest of the lot.  Our concern now is that he had a few young children and one of the siblings is looking to toss them out (they have a building where several sibs and their families live) so all the other sibs are trying to make sure that this doesn't happen.  It's unfortunate that there sometimes seems to be one bad apple.  Despite the sad news, we did have fun, even hubby. I don't think I posted what hubby did for my birthday.  We have a tradition where we do the cake and presents at midnight (and we act like it's a big surprise, lol).  Since we were in RI at midnight, I told hubby and son that if they were thinking of doing anything with candles, that they shouldn't because the hotel had a smoke alarm and sprinkler system.  I go to sleep and wake up to the sound of a smoke alarm.  It seems hubby thought he could light the candles quickly, but not quickly enough.  Thankfully, he did not set off the sprinkler system, too.  Thanks again for your prayers, Sue
