Anybody Experience.....

"nothing" after surgery?   What I mean is, so far the only reason that I'm sure I had surgery is because I have incisions and I'm not hungry.  Other than that, I feel perfectly normal.  I'm eating purees and some semi-solids that I chew to death.  So far I've had different soups and chili and not one thing has made me feel like I "over did it" or disagreed with me.  I don't get any sensations in my upper belly or lower chest that tell me that I'm "full".  Sometimes I feel a small amount of pressure there, but nothing signifigant.   I am counting my blessings that I feel this wonderful, but at the same time I'm just curious if other people experienced such an uneventful post-op.  Do you think that things will change when I begin more regular foods?

And while we're talking about regular foods, would anyone care to share some things that they found were easy "first foods" to attempt?   Thanks in advance for your input!

"Knock on wood!"  I had my surgery on August 17th, and same here.

Remember the liquids just flow through the pouch so you will not feel full. That is why once you get on more solid foods you are not supposed to drink you will just flush the food straight through and feel hungry again. Betty Jo Lap RNY 7/11/03

yes...once you start on "regular" food you will feel full.  I get like a small bubble and I know I done eating.  Just make sure when you start real food you choose moist meat.  I had a bad reaction to grilled fish because it was too dry.  I have been lucky too...but, I have been very careful and followed the rules in the beginning.  I'm thrilled for you that you are having a good result Rosemary

I've had a good post -op also besides the one bout of 'head hunger' over the wkend.  I'm walking 2 miles a day.  I could have even gone back to work this wk but decided just to take that 3 wk off.

You probably feel so good because your nerves have yet to heal. It takes awile befor you will get the full feeling and perhaps it will once your on solid or soft foods. I enjoyed ricotta cheese with spaghetti sause and mozzarella cheese....cottage cheese, wendy's chili, refried beans to name a few. Hope your journey goes as smooth as possible...Hugs, Chris

I'm the same way! Nothing has made me sick. Let's hope that it stays this way.

I'm on pureed and soft foods and I've had no trouble. I'm been trying lots of new foods...veggie sausage, veggie burgers, veggie chili, different cheeses, eggplant rolatini, veggie meatballs in veggie brown gravy. Soy products seem to sit very well in my pouch. I really hope it continues because they are a great source of protein for me and oh so yummy.
