in a state of panic here
so i am a week away from surgery and i have to get medical clearance from my primary care doc. my doc has limited office hrs: he only sees patients 3 days a week, and he is always booked solid for a month when u call to make an appointment. so he has walk in hours that start after the last appointment. knowing this and knowing how busy he is, i didnt make an appointment for medical clearance, i just figured i could walk in.
WRONG. i go in there tonight and the nurse says "we dont do medical clearances during office hours and we don't do it in one appointment." then looking at the form says "oh and we need all your lab results from the preadmissions testing and we dont have any of that anyway."
so........i left.
i am so not going to be able to sleep tonight, waiting for morning to come so i can call the surgeons office and see what i can do about this. is there someone they can recommend i go to?? can i get copies of the lab stuff to take with me? i am PANICKED.
yet there is nothing i can do until morning.
any of garber/holover's patients ever encounter this problem?

(edited: i forgot to add, i go back to work on thursday so this cuts into possible appointment time too. argh)
Dont' panick. I'm a Garber patient. I had the same problem with my primary care doctor. I called and spoke with Dr. Garber's staff and they made a appointment to see Dr. Genovese who is in the same office as doctor Garber and he filled out my form. I'm assuming that you did the pre admissions at Mercy. Dr. Garbers office had all my testing there in my file so they made a copy for Dr. Genovese to look at. Just give Dr. Garber's office a call in the morning and explain the situation. I'm sure that they can help you.
Good luck,
Patty
Good Morning, I am also a patient of Dr. Garber and agree with the previous poster who suggested Dr. Genovese. He's very very nice and he has become my PCP. The staff will be happy to give him access to the results of you pre-op testing from Mercy. So just relax. Very thing should be fine. Best of luck on your upcoming surgery. Dr. Holover is wonderful.
Best regards,
Stacy
Thank you so much for responding.
After tossing and turning all night and waiting for 9am, I called Garber's office but I don't think anyone was in yet.. so I called Dr. Genovese's office and the receptionist answered. (who by the way I think is the sweetest woma.) I explained my dilemma to which she replied, "Oh Dear!!" and she scheduled me for tomorrow at 4pm.
Yes, I agree, Dr. Genovese is sooo nice. I used him as my pulmonologist and ended up consulting with him 3x since I have sleep apnea. I was thinking also of making him my PCP, even though I live so far east. I figure I could always schedule appointments for right after work since it's on the way home.
I feel sooo much better. Now let's hope the hospital faxed over all the labwork!
that will be great!
well.. we might miss each other .. i will probably be there by 3:45 or so and my appt is at 4pm.. not sure how long my actual appointment is going to take.
take another look at my pics and flag me down if you see me... i will be wearing glasses and my hair will undoubtedly be up in a scrunchee...and i just got it done with dark red and blonde highlights,,lol
if you see anyone fitting that description shout out my name!
i'll PM you my cell # that mightwork too!
