Had surgery 8/19/07, home and recouping.  What a day, just thought it was going to be atypical bypass, 6 hours of surgery, ouch! they found a hiatus hernia that had to be repaired before bypass could even be started.  I never even thought I had one, oh well recovery is going ok but the upper pain in the chest area is somewhat uncomfortable, but to live with knowing what the future is about to bring GOOD HEALTH judy

YAY Judy!  Welcome home sweetie!  I have a hiatle hernia, it was my only co-morbidity.  I had been coughing and had heart burn on occasion, maybe 1-2 times a month, so my GP suggested I see a specialist.  His nurse told me if I'd lose weight, the heart burn would go away.  How smart is she! No problems at all once the weight began falling off!

Best of wishes in your recovery and welcome to the BENCH!

Hi Judy. Sounds like you have a good doc there.
Take care of yourself; my routine at first was walk, sip, rest, repeat!

hugs,

This is pretty much my first time posting.  I've been lurking in the shadows, reading and getting the scoop on what to expect when I have my surgery.  I am going in on August 21st and I am truly starting to get antsy.  I am scared, excited, bored and already missing the food I can't eat tomorrow when I have to stay on liquids only.  Thank you, Judy for sharing your third day out and everyone else *****minded you that this too shall pass.  I know it won't seem like it at the time, but I have seen proof that the bad things in life do pass.  Hang in there and I'll see you all on the flip side. Sue

Hi Sue, Good luck on Aug 21,   I'm sure all eill be good after that date, I understand the tough side of liquids, but just remember that you will gain a much more healthier life style in the end, so right now just hang in there  Looking forward to seeing you on the loser's bench judy
