A major Wow moment for me

Howdy folks! Congrats to all of you on your various food phases and congrats too all *****cently got approved! I was just on a business trip from Wed through yesterday and it was my first time flying as a post-op.  It felt wonderful to not have to ask for an extender and be able to move in the seat and even the aisle.  If anyone wants to read my history, I have one of those humiliating seat belt stories when I was MO.  This trip was a lot of fun although Charlotte was pretty hot, it was actually very doable for me.  Our trip back was interesting, we got on board, then had to deplane, were told we had a 2.5 hour delay, but then were re-boarded and took off less than an hour later, then ended up circling up north for a while because of weather, so instead of getting in at 6, we got in at almost 10.  But as we all know, it could have been much worse, so I was happy to be back in NY. I bought t-shirts for my men folk especially since I left on Wed and it was my younger son's birthday, he kept reminding me that I was leaving on his birthday, but I'd make it up to him by buying him something!  I also bought a couple for myself whi*****redibly enough are size Smalls. Glad to be back in my beloved NY! Sue

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is. - Ellen DeGeneres

Sue, May the WOW moments continue....I can relate to the seat belt extender.  On my last trip I had to ask for one and I think it was just one of the "last straw" moments for me.  I can't wait until I am there with ya! Rosemary

Thank you, Rosemary - may they continue for us and may we never take them for granted! Hope everything is going well with you, too! Sue

Hi Sue, You've gotta love those wow moments!  I think traveling is one of the areas where we can experience wow moments the most.  It is so nice not to have to worry about seat belt extenders, fitting in seats, etc. Take care, Mary

True, Mary, not having to turn sideways to fit in the aisle, too.  I fit well, although, I think planes are just cramped for everyone.  My bosses are all over 6 feet tall, big strapping men, and I felt bad for them since they have no leg room at all! Sue

Darn, I typed a response to you, Britt, but deleted it since I wanted it to reply directly to your post.  I thought I'd copies it before I deleted the post, but I guess I didn't. I'm happy for all of us who are continuing to fight the good fight. At dinner during the trip, one of my bosses asked me if I knew I would get to this weight (and they are fascinated at what little I eat, but then they are big tall men who can eat a side of beef and go back for seconds, lol).  I told him that my surgeon had told me that I could probably get below 200, maybe to 180.  I didn't tell my surgeon at the time, but I thought that was defeatist and I was going to get as low as I could, healthily tho.  So I am 40 lbs below my surgeon's initial goal and 30 below his last goal for me.  The boss guy said, so you're a success and I told him that I would consider myself a success when I had maintained for 5 years.   That's my goal now, to continue to read and educate my mind while striving to eat healthy to maintain my weight.  We are going on vacation next friday (to Ct, RI and Mass) and when I get back, I am going to be looking into rejoining a health club and starting my ps process.  I walk alot, but I want to start zeroing in on the area where I will need and want the ps done. Take care and thank you! Sue
