cause diarhea?  This afternoon I had my protein shake which is 33 grams of protein when made with my soy milk and then I had started sipping on my protein water.  Could this have been too much for my body to handle? TIA for any insight.  I'm just trying to figure out why this is happening to me today.

My system was uneasy right after my surgery....it took about 3-4 weeks after I starting with solid food for it to "level" out Rosemary

Yuppers...it is just your system working through it.  Not putting solids in...not going to get it out, lol (((HUGS)))

Diarrhea is very very common the first couple of weeks no matter what your intake -- especially if you were bypassed distally.  Some even find themselves lactose intolerant after surgery, resulting in diarrhea.  If the diarrhea persists past a month, however, make sure you keep your surgeon informed as you should be experiencing some more solid waste -- esp as you eat solid protein.  Good luck and God bless.

Hey Honey,
While there might be many explanations for having diarreah, you should always contact your surgeon with any unusual symptoms. Let him/her determine if this is a normal occurance or something that warrents follow up.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm on clear liquids and getting almost no protein at all, yet every single day I've had BM's that are completely liquid.  I don't feel like I have diarhea, I just feel like I might pass gass, but something tells me that it's more than gas, so I go do it on the pot.   So far this has been a once, every morning within two hours of rising, routine.  So, I'm quite regular!   I see my doc for my first follow-up today, so I'll be asking about it too.  I'll let ya know what they say.
