Silly question!!!! I am a size 20, and have been that size for years now.  For those who have already had surgery how fast did your clothes sizes change?  ( I know for everyone it is different).  Wondering come winter time what size would I be, and how much clothes I would have to buy.  How do you keep up?  Just wondering? I would hold off on clothes...and buy sparingly...I am lucky...I still had a few sizes smaller in my closet.  I have also just retired so I don't have to worry about work clothes. Good Luck on your surgery... Rosemary

Hi sweetie, You're right we are all different, but be ready for the "droppage"!      In 8 weeks I went from a 24 to a 16..some 14s now at 11 weeks out!  I was a pretty solid 12 not too long before my eating and lack of exercise got out of control, so had some classic clothing already.  Thrift stores, ebay, garage sales are fun to grab things from as you lose.  I've found some great sales at Old Navy. Congrats on your date!!!

Yes we are all different and I would say just get what you have to when you have to since the change comes in groups (well it did for me) seemed like I was one size for weeks and then all of the sudden they were way to lose. I know for me that Wal-Mart has been great  and I will keep shopping there until I know I am going to stay on one size. (for me after my PS) I was also lucky as my cuz had the surgery for me and she went crazy buying really nice clothes that she grew out of so quickly, well then I got them so that was a BIG help! I wish you all the best hun

I was wondering the same thing, but I don't think we can judge that.  I know I can at least get through 2 sizes shopping in my closet, but then I'll have to go out and shop.  I'll be more than ready to go shopping by then.

hi Shara, I had my surgery almost 5 weeks ago and weighed 252 and have lost 32lbs so far. I went down to a size 18 in most things but some 18's fit in the kegs and but but are a liitle to small on the waist. But all my size 20's I had are huge on me. I even tried washing them in ho****er and putting them in the dryer. As far as what size you would be in the winter it is hard to say everbody looses at a different rate. but as far as buying clothes buy your basics like black pants, and different shirts to match you don't want to buy to much in one size because you won't be able to wear them long. Don't buy clothes to tight so you can wear them longer because you will want new clothes that will show off your weight loss not the same clothes . You know what I mean. I have everything from size 12 to 20 in my closet. So I am set for a while. Your date will be here before you know it. Sheila

My advice .... buy limited clothing as you are shrinking. A few times I bought a pair of jeans, hung them in my closet and when i went to wear them a few weeks later ... they were too big!  SINCE THEN ...whenever i buy new pants I stuff the receipt in the pocket ... so if that happens I can go get a smaller size. you are going to be amazed how you shrink :o)  hugs, Britt

I suggest you only buy on the sale racks the first year out, I averaged about  a 15 pounds weight lost the first year out and I dropped a size per month. I ended up giving away  clothes about every 2 months that first year.  Donna  open rny mar 18 2003 282/143/140
