change in my surgery date

got a phone call early yesterday morning that my surgery date of aug 20th must be changed because my surgeon will be on vacation that week. guess he didn't know this when i made the appointment a week ago.  the new date they gave me is sept 4th... i will already be back at work at that time............so this means i have to take unpaid leave for surgery/recovery. i dont have accumulated days to fall back on. needless to say i was disappointed. i asked if she had heard anything regarding approval, she said no it's pending, but we should definitely know before sept 4th. (i should hope so) so between that and my computer totally crashing and spending the last day and 1/2 trying to wipe everything out and reinstall all over again..........i wasnt the happiest camper. just venting

Hang in there! I know how you are feeling, my surgery date got changed to 30 days later - because I got a cold :( I was so upset ... but then realized - It is what is it is!  Is there ANYWAY that you could talk to work and make some adjustments to your time off? fingers and toes are crossed for you approval!!!! hugs, Britt

Hiya Britt, No,, unfortunately not.. I'm a teacher. But luckily I won't be in the classroom this year..I will be one of two resource room teachers, so hopefully the other one can pick up my slack.

Hun I know the date changes stink and I hear that a lot regarding the surgeon and there vacation, I just don't understand why, like you said, they would not know that when they give you your date??? I can see something coming up but I hear that SOOO many times. well hang in there and your new date will be here soon! Also can you get your job to change your vacation time? the only thing i can figure is that stephanie just got back from her vacation either that day or the monday of that week and maybe she just didnt think to ask him.?? no.. im a teacher.. our vacations are in accordance with school vacation schedules. thank u so much to both of you *****plied :-) ~~Lisa

Lisa, I totally understand how upset you must be,  especially when you have to wait even longer to have your surgery. I know where you are coming from when you talk about unpaid leave.  I am a homecare nurse and do not get paid unless I work, so I'm right there with you.

Hopefully your approval will come through soon so you don't have to worry about that any more.  The time will go quickly and before you know it you will be a loser! I will be following one week later, as my surgery is scheduled for Sept. 11, also with Dr. Holover.

Oh No!!! I can imagine how terrible you feel.Call your principal  8/27 or 8/28, give them the heads up. i'm sure it will work out.  About insurance just got my approval ..Yea There is life after GHI. So happy . i know you will be approved soon. Find out when the surgeon submittrd the papers, so you can keep track. Hang in there +++Karen+++

congrats on your approval! now i cant remember,,, did u get denied 1st time or was this the first time u submitted? do u have comorbs? well we go back 2 days before labor day so i will tell her when we go back. she's pretty cool...i'm not worrked about that,, im more worried about finances........but i guess it will all work out. i'll take a pension loan if i have to!

Glad she is cool . My principal is a pain about us being out . I was denied twice   Went up to a step two appeal which was still internal, Was told if I was denied again I would have  to go to an external appeal which could take up to three months. I have diabetes for 18 years and high blood pressure . I'm even insulin dep. now.  The paper work was sent in wrong from NUt. it didnt have progress notes at first .Sent that got denied again. They wanted all the clearance letters from PCP endo. Cardiologist , Gastro. All were in my file at the surgeons office. That along with new physical got me approved 1 week after all the papers were in. Anna in surgeons office said they (GHI) change requirements very often. She has been doing this for ten years. Oh well I go to surgeon on tuesday hopefully I will get a date ASAP . I hope for the week of 8/13. I'm learning how to keep on top of this calling the company on my own to check status of paper work.
