Tummy Tuck & other news
Hi Friends!
I have been woefully absent as far as posting so I thought I'd post an update and say hi to old friends, and welcome and good luck to newcomers!
I am down about 120 pounds since I started this journey and have a lot of extra skin to prove it! I just recently got diagnosed with a benign ovarian tumor (really not serious, just painful) and need to have the ovary removed, so I am having my tummy tuck done at the same time. Surgery date is August 21st. I guess I have a small hernia in my old c-section scar, so they'll take care of that too...
WLS has been, without a doubt, the best gift I have ever given myself. I was wearing a coat of protection for many years: one I was unable to shed without the help of this amazing tool that was bestowed upon me. I would do it again in a heartbeat, although it has not, by any means, been an easy journey. While I look, and feel like a new woman, and have made many positive changes in my life (returning to school to get my masters in Nursing, riding my bike, shopping for clothes off the rack, rediscovering my music again, just to name a few things), there have been some very diffiuclt issues that have arisen too. The hardest, is that my marriage, which always was challenging, is falling apart. I feel that when you strip off your layer of protection, and expose the vulnerable you underneath, lots of things need to change to accomodate that newness. It's not a bad thing, in fact, it's wonderful, but it can be very challenging.
So, there's my news. I'm sorry I've been so remiss about staying in touch. Just wrapped up in a very busy, ever-changing life. Please tell me how you all are doing!
Hugs and well wishes to you all,
Amy

Amy, Glad to hear you are taking care of you. Isn't that what this is about?!! We all know that it is a "life" altering process, and we have to take the good with the bad. I am sorry about your marriage. I have been there myself.
I have experienced so many changes in such a short time. It make my head spin to think about it. You have been an inspiration to me.
Thank you!! Take care!!
Thank you for your sweet words Betsy. It is a rapid fire of changes isn't it? I think that's part of what makes WLS so successful, but it's a lot to handle, albeit mostly sweet.
Thanks again,Amy

Hi Rosemary,Plastic surgery is scary to me too, but I keep reminding myself that the short term pain and discomfort pays of big time in the long run. I can manage anything for a short period of time!
Thanks for your words of encouragement!Amy
