I would call your Dr just in case but if I remember correctly it might be the extra blood that was in your system from your surgery. I know I had a BM like that as well. Good that you had one and all is working correctly.

After surgery for the first few days mine were black and runny. I know gross!!
My doctor said that that was normal.

I would bet that it's a combination of old blood from the surgery (fresh blood is the typical bright red, OLD blood becomes very dark/almost black), and bile buildup which can range from dark green to black.
but as others have said.... doesn't cost anything to call your surgeon just to get his opinion over the phone... if he's concerned, he'll either have you come in, or tell you to go to the emergency room.
