Introduction

Hi every body, I'm pretty much new to the board, I have been researching this lap band operation for over 2 years now and on June 20th, I had the last straw when I didn't fit into a bridesmaid dress and had to tell my friend I was not going to be in her wedding (even if the dress fit, it was not a fat friendly dress and I would have looked like a stuffed sausage in it), needless to say she is upset with me, and I am upset with myself.  So that was it, I called and scheduled my appointment for July 24th for the Lap Band surgery.  With every day that passes I realize this is actually going to happen and I know I will need support from time to time, and so here I am, A lurker coming out of lurkdom!  I usually frequent the lap band board but came across the NY board this week.  So since I live In NY half the time and Jersey the other half, I figured Id say Hi.   =)

WELCOME. I WIISH YOU LUCK. I TOO HAVE JUST STARTED THIS JOURNEY BUT MY INSURANCE REQUIRES SIX MONTHS DOCUMENTED  DR VISITS. WHAT SURGEON DID YOU DECIDE? I JUST MET DR FIELDING LAST NIGHT AND I LOVED HIM. WELL YOU WILL DO GREAT JENNIFER.

It took me 2 years before I had my surgery!  I had lapband on 5/8/07.  I've lost 50 pds, almost halfway there.  It will be the best decision you've ever made!!!  Add me if you'd like..I'll share any info I have on the banding!!!  Congrats on your decision!!!

Thanks all, for the warm welcomes.  I cant wait till this surgery is over.  I know its going to be some work on my part after its done, but I'm up for the challenge, right now I just want this 2 weeks of a liquid diet to be over, even though I know that after the surgery I will have 3 weeks of a liquid diet to look forward to.  But if thats what I have to do, then so be it!!!!!!!!   Thanks again!!!!!  =)

Welcome!  So many of us can relate to the bridesmaid dress - and other similar situations that finally give us a wake up call.  From the moment I started researching I couldn't get through this process fast enough.  I started researching in February and was just banded on July 5th.  I'm SO so happy and excited to be on "this side of the fence" now. Which surgeon are you going with? All the best!
