Elevated Liver Enzymes? Protein in Urine?

Anybody here have elevated liver enzymes after surgery? Is this a common thing after WLS? My liver enzymes were elevated according to bloodwork I had in the ER when I went in for abdominal pain which turned out to be the kidney stone. I also had a trace amount of protein in my urine which seems to be an abnormal thing. Anyone have that? I am bringing copies to my PCP tomorrow and plan on asking him to re do my bloodwork and urine. Just wondering if anyone experienced this and did the liver enzymes ever go back to normal? I apologize for asking so many questions on this board, but I have become so aware of my health with this surgery that I get nervous when things are not normal. Thanks in advance.

kali, I have high liver enzymes also. Doc said it is normal with obese people. as you loose the weight they will come down as long you don't have any underlying dieses like hepatits, scorios of the liver. They also can be elevated when ther is an infection in the body. my were as high as 400 something when I had a pancreatitis attack. Then they went down but still were a little elevated due to being obese. So your kidney stone is probally what made the enzymes high. Maybee you could compare them to your blood work before your wls for your preop testing. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Let me know how you make out. Sheila

Thanks for your reply Sheila, my enzymes were never high before surgery so my PCP believes it may just be from the surgery due to the liver working in overdrive due to burning all the fat. Because I am in Ketosis. I did have fatty infiltration of the liver before surgery but I was told that would go away as I lose weight. I posted this on the RNY board as well and it seems to be a more common thing than I though, having high liver enzymes after surgery. Not all of them were high, just one particular one, the LD (LDH) was a little elevated not extremely high because I am sure the ER docs would of told me if it was something of concern. I only know because I requested a copy of the results that way I could bring them to my PCP and show him. Did you have high enzymes before surgery or just afterwards? Kali
