I've been stressing

OK..so I've been stressing alot now that my surgery is less than a month away and my surgeon's office isn't giving me what I need to wrap my head around the idea that everything will be ok to go.  They submit to insurance at a certain time and only deal with the immediate surgeries.

One of my co-workers put my mind at ease (we are the same Type A personalities).  She said, I have control over what's on my desk and I can have all my ducks in a row.  I have to believe that my (lawyer, surgical coordinator, financial advisor, etc.) is an expert at what they do and I have to trust that they will do the best they can for me.

It hit me...she is absolutely right.  I'm stressing because I have no control over the order in which things are to be done...and it is driving me crazy.  I do not like not being in control.

There, now I feel better.

lol, I am so glad that you de-restressed yourself so well! Congratulations! Your time is coming soon and I know you've wanted this for a long time! Take care, Sue

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is. - Ellen DeGeneres

Thanks Susan.  I have wanted this for a long time. Sometimes, *****ing to my co-worker is the only way to put things in perspective.  She's not afraid to tell me when I'm over reacting or being unreasonable about something.

Oh yeah, Cheri, I'm so ready for this ride to begin.  I don't even want to start thinking about my gray hair...LOL. After the weekend, I'm only 3 weeks away from surgery.  Then I can relax.

What good advice your co-worker gave you. The funny thing about WLS and control is that once you do have the surgery, for a short period of time, you have a false sense like you are in super control of everything. Control like you've never known it. You're not hungry, you lose weight like gangbusters, every article of clothing you put on looks great, etc. The reality hits and you are just like everyone else on the planet: calories in = calories out and it's a real slap in the face. I guess it's good to be mindful of the effect of control now, so you will be ready for the changes that await you.
Get psyched mama. You are about to go for the ride of a lifetime.

Thanks my sweet Amy.  You have been such an inspiration to me throughout this process.   My co-worker is very honest, and that's what I like about her. It's funny, when I want something, I want it now.  So far this journey has been a very humbling experience.

Humbling is right, Rachelle. There are so many hidden opportunities for growth and this surgery gives us a tool by which to successfully take advantage of all of them, if we want.

Good advice from the co-worker!!

I to worry, and stress alot! It helps to know you've done all you can, and you just have to let go sometimes. Easier said than done!! But hopefully everything is going in the right direction and you'll be all set.

All the best to you!!!
