when there's a leak!!!!

 Scott had a filter put in on the 11th of June.  The bypass was on the June12 th.  He began to show signs of leakage the next morning.  By Thursday he had to go back into surgery to fix a leak that caused SEPTIC SHOCK.  His kidneys were failing, his respiratory rate was high and his blood pressue was fluctuating.  He had a third surgery when his when his white count went up,  and fever started again.  He was transfered to COLUMBIA PRESB.  HOSP.  to be watched more closely.  He died the next day from complications and possibly a clot . Think carefully before having this surgery.!!!!!!!!!!

Donna, My condolences to you and your children. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sure, like most of us here, Scott went into this to better his quality of life. Instead, he lost his. Surgery is always risky, and elective surgery has that added fear. I am hoping Scott was happy with his decision and choice of surgeon. Was it a Laproscopic RNY, if I can ask? Did the surgeon do a leak test following the initial surgery? That is a MUST. Again, my condolences to you and your family. Regards, Karen
