Hello to all,  I am just getting ready to start the process.  My mother had Bypass about 19 months ago and she has done outstanding.  I am starting to go through the process now.  My DR will not recomend me for the bypass.  I can however have the lapband.  Due to the fact I am only 25.  I am just wondering if anyone has any advise for the process.  I am trying to have my second child first so that I don't have to worry about that during all of this. Thanks in advance,  I am very open to comments and suggestions.  I need all the friends in the world

Hi there. You've come to the right place, everyone here is very supportive.

How come your doc will only recommend lapband--plenty of people your age have it, and they go on to have more children afterwards too.

Nothing against the lapband--I had one and I loved it. (other reasons necessitated its removal), just curious.

You will definately find a lot of friends here!

My Mother and I have the same Dr.  She approved my mother for the bypass and has seen the issues she has had.  She also says that there is not enough research done on the long term effects of the surgery.  Such as "dumping's" effects on the intestines and the other issues there are with it. I have seen all that my mom has gone through and I would much rather have the band anyway.
