Ok i'm venturing out this weekend (or next) to go to Coney Island....Actually the Aquarium  I've decided to take the subway...it's just easiest...and cheapest (with gas costing about 3 dollars a gallon now).   I'll be at Grand Central Station.....and the Aquarium web site says to take the F or the Q all the way to the end.  My question is which is fastest...and how can I catch either from Grand Central. I usually can find my way around manattan...but I've never ventured out of manhattan by subway....so HELLLLLLLPPPP...lol.  Scott  Thanks in advance...and you bet Nathans is on my list of things to do.  I haven't been to Coney Island in about 20 years.

Ok, Beam me up Scottie.  I have a route for you.  From Grand Central Station go downstairs, follow the signs to the 7 Train.  Take the 7 heading to Times Square and get off @ 5th ave.  From the 5th ave stop , take the D or F train heading downtown to StillWell Ave stop.  From there take the B36 bus heading to Coney Island.  Transportation time is about a little over an hour.  If there is a faster route i'll try to find it.  Hope this helps!

Ok, this is the best route by far.  You can take the Shuttle train from Grand Central Station.   You just walk down the long tunnel to the shuttle train which runs every few minutes.  There is only one stop and that is to Times Square.  That is the only place that the shuttle train goes to.  Now from the Times Square stop , take the Q train heading downtown and get off at the West 8th St- New York Aquarium stop.  If all else fails call the MTA info line (718) 330-1234.

Unless you want to sit on the train forever.  My advice is to take the tunnel to the BQE which leads into the belt parkway and get off at I beleive exit 8?  You will see the aquarium sign.  It should take no longer then 20 minutes no traffic.  Or the D train hop on at 5th avenue and 42nd street and take it straight to CI about 1 hour. From CI the aquarium is two blocks towards the left.  Nathans is right on the corner when you exit the train.  Tip for Nathans.  Don't stand on the long Hot Dog line.  When you enter Nathans you will see a service table for Kenny Rogers chicken.  It is towards the left.  They take hot dog orders, french fries you name it.  I usually get the hamburger and take off the bun.  Its grilled so its really good.  If you walk along the boardwalk you will hit the aquarium as well.  Bring lots of sun block and hat its hot!

I just noticed you used the same doctor's office for your WLS procedure.  I hear Dr. Kurian moved to another practice.  How is the office now?  Is it still crowded?  The follow up care I thought was horrible.  Did not like the doctor you used.  Although he is the best and very blunt.  I felt they pushed too much on the WLS products.  It annoyed me.  I felt like he wasn't listening to my questions after the surgery.

Thanks for the response...I got it too late (i ended up going today). ....the hat suggestion would have been good...I am burned.  The subway only took about 40 minutes....it was a good option for me.  Anyway as for Roslin...he's great.  I personally think he's the best skilled surgeon for bariatric surgery in manhattan...at least in the top 2 or 3.  Yes he's very blunt...(read my review of him)...he's not a cuddley hold your hand...blow your nose kind of doctor...but I knew that before I went to my 1st consultation....all of his patients said the same thing.  He's blunt, bu the best.   I think the follow up care has been good.  He's always listened to my concerns, I normally go in with a list...lol.  I did have a different surgery then you did, and I spent a lot of time on line (on OH and www.duodenalswitch.com) researching how to eat post op, suppliments to take, and when something  comes up, I turn there first (even before I call him).   The DS community is very tight knit....so I don't know if we're in the same boat persay.   Actually when I go for follow up, I've normally identified issues (or what I think are issues or questions) and possible treatments...lol.   Like when I wanted to change my suppliment regime, I came to him with a new one I read about online from another DSer.   I did notice that they were selling products in the office, they've never really pushed me to buy anything.  They did ask me preop, if I needed any shakes or whatever, and I told them no, and they never pushed or bothered me again.   I've read this forum long enough to know there are no perfect surgeons....you have to take both the good and the bad, and trust me ...you don't want the bad to be  in the operating room.  I was sad to see Dr. K leave, although I never actually interacted with her, I did find it comforting that there were 3 wells skilled DS/bariatric surgeons on call at the hospital. The office is still busy....I normally try to get a 1st apt. or an early apt.  It seems it's less crowded then.  Whose doing your follow up care now? Scott

I would take the F train to the end. Also, was to Nathans about a year ago and it was not as good as I remembered.

Thanks for the feedback about Dr. Roslin.  I knew about his personality as well.  Its good that you go in with a list.  I probably should have done that too in the beginning.  I had Lap RNY.  My results have been very positive with no complications (thank goodness).  My post op has very limited.  The last time I saw the doctor was in January.  I did the full bloodwork and everything was fine.  I'm due for another round of blood work (nine vials to be exact).  I think I'm at target.  I weight 125 but my BMI needs a little work.  At 5.0 tall its hard.  Anyway good luck with everything.  Sorry about the SUN burn.  It gets really hot over there.  Also you probably had a bit of culture shock added to that as well.  CI is so diverse!  I've lived in BKLYN all my life so I'm used to it.  But someone from out of the states would say different.  CI is CI and will always be CI even when Thor Equities fixes it up!
