GHI Insurance----Please Help

I am scheduled for RNY on 7-17-07.  GHI denied my request the first time.  We sent in an appeal and are waiting for a reply.  Has this happened to anyone with GHI?  I am anxiously waiting for a reply from anyone who can help me. Thank you

Hi a few years ago i tried to get aproved for gastric bypass with GHI. They denied me but the good new's is as soon as I appealed it they gave it to me. I never went threw with the surgery but im am now seeing a surgeon in august.

I was denied the first and they also denied my appeal. I appealed to NYS Dept of Insurance and was approved. In my appeal denial they were specific and said it was due to my primary physician's letter. So when I appealed to the state I had a more informed letter from him and was approved. I would suggest you call them, their number should be on their letter and check on the status. Also check into appealing to the state if that is an option for you. I appealed to GHI-my second appeal and the state at the same time--GHI denied me the state approved me. 

Thanks  much for the info.  I am lucky.  I just got a phone call from the surgeon's office.  I am approved.  So I will be on the losing side as of the 17th of July.  Thanks again. cathy
