Bariatrician

Im trying to find a Bariatic physician in sufflk county that takes United Healthcare... anyone know of any ?  My current PCP is great but clueless with post RNY patients. Figred Id start searching now before  have the surgery.

My doc (or hospital, don't remembe which) gave me a 2-sided paper w/picture of the bypass & instructions pertaining to my ongoing care and resrictions, etc. It's meant to be kept in my pcp's file & me to keep copies to give to other docs. My pcp doesn't know much about RNY patients, but luckily he & my surgeon have privileges @ the same hospital. I think that as long as the pcp knows to consult the surgeon with any questions, you should be fine. That's just my opinion, of course; maybe someone else does know of a bariatric physician.

I don't know of any "Bariatricians". My PCP was knowledgable; he even directed me to Dr. Shawn Garber. I think that Karen B's advice is correct; any PCP can follow a post-op if given the info he needs regarding your surgeon and procedure. Maybe you should ask your surgeon for a referral? I agree most PCP hve no clue how to care for our special needs....I use 

I recommend my Clinical Nutrition Group in Albany: (they do all sorts of nutrition issues, up to and including bariatric surgery.....all are great providers I see Dr Denning)... Albany Clinical Nutrition
