My WLS journey update

Hi Everyone! Just thought I would give you an update on my progress and share a little story.  I am 11 weeks post op today.  I started my journey at 271lbs back in November, lost 40 lbs pre-surgery, and had surgery on 4/2/07.  Today I weighed in at 176.  I m down a total of 95lbs!  I had to step on the scale a couple of times and move it around to different spots to make sure it was working properly.  I was so excited!   Over the weekend I went through my closet and packed up all the 16's and 18's for my good friend Vicki who is 3 weeks post op and doing terrific.  As I was pulling out clothes, I found a pair of shorts that were a size 10 that someone gave me before I had surgery.  I had forgotten I had them because they were buried in the closet.  I was not thinking a size 10 would be feasible any time soon so I just tossed them in there.  Anyway, I decided to try them on to see how far I was from wearing them......and they FIT!!!!   I was soooooooo excited I started doing the happy dance around the house, with my kids looking on in embarrassment.  After that I pulled out a bag of jeans my mother in law gave me that had all 12's and 10's in it, again put away for a later date, and every pair of pants in there fit me.  I can't tell you what a feeling it is.   I am so happy and guess what, I LOVE SHOPPING!  Who would have thunk it!  I still struggle sometimes with head hunger, but I think I am getting a handle on it.  I still have the occasion throw up issue, expecially with meats of any kind lately, but not very often.   Overall my experience has been very positive and I would do it again in a heartbeat.  I have even inspired a girl I work with to do something for herself and she recently met with a surgeon to start the process.   To everyone out there that is waiting for your time and wishing it was yesterday, be patient, be strong and be positive.  It will happen.  Good luck! Janet

How wonderful, Janet!!!  95 pounds????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wowsers, kiddo!  I can't wait to be able to say that!  I am getting rid of the 20 - 24s I have.  6 weeks post op, down 44 pounds...3 more to be under 200.  I have a pair of 10 shorts I wore 9 years ago.  I've kept them as my goal shorts!

Congrats Janet.  I checked out your latest pics and you look great.  I started the WLS process at Albany Med on April 10th.  I am 10 pounds away from my 10% and working through all of the preop requirements.  I saw Jen Lindstrom my nutritionist last Friday ans she said thatthe only thing she could see that would hold me up is the sleep study which isn't until July 13th.  I am hoping for an October surgery.  Wish me luck and keep us updated.  hey maybe I'll see you at an Albany Med support group.  They are terrific and very motivating. Crystal

CONGRATS!  i am 4 days out and thinking...hmmmm, a size 10 is way too far in the future to think about.  after reading your post, I am thinking that it may not be that far away.  Very inspiring. I have a question though about "head hunger"...can you explain?   Thanks loads,  IRENE
