Three Month Update.

Boy, I've been feeling so gooood lately. ( Knock on wood.) I weighed in this morning at 185 lbs.  That's a 45 lb. loss since surgery day on March 19th. I have learned not to compare my weight with others now so I'm pretty pleased with the loss so far. I am getting more attuned with my body which is such a unique experience. I now am very much aware of what I put into my mouth, how fast I can eat and the difference between real hunger / head hunger and being able to identify the old habits of eating for the heck of it ....anytime, anyplace and anywhere for any reason. I might even understand the concept of the body being your "temple." I said might because it used to be a foreign concept to me and I certainly am not there yet. It is falling into place, though, and doesn't seem that far of a reach. The knee in which I had surgery last year is much, much better than I could have hoped for. The muscles that support it are being strengthened by all the walking - an added benefit. Whenever I down a bottle of water I have the image of Pop-Eye with his can of spinache. LOL. It's silly but I do.(Song & everything!) Maybe because I've come to recognize tha****er is so vital in this new world of mine. I have been walking, walking and more walking with my husband and of course the pupster. He inspires me because he has severe neuropathy in both feet. I know that his pain is 24/7. So if he can do it, you can bet that I have no excuse. It was great to take advantage of this beautiful weather by hiking in a beautiful park in Stonybrook. (Dog friendly...of course.) We had a great time and walked some more in the evening in Pt. Jeff.  So this is what healthy people do...huh? Couldn't have done it in the past because of weight and smoking. YAAAY! It's a big deal for us.  I think that I might take up cursing to bring some kind of vice to my life. I say a grateful prayer a few times during the day - everyday that all is well right now. I think that this experience has somehow made me more spiritual and I'll figure that out in due time. I want to ingrain these feelings in my brain and ride on the coattail of the "Honeymoon" period, so afterward it hopefully will be second nature. I only wished that my younger sister had the chance to have this surgery before it was too late.  I pray that everyone who is waiting for this gets their chance. Thanks for all of your support. Going out to start another day.Have a GREAT DAY friends! ~~Diane
