Hi, Although i am not Lattelou as it states, I am his daughter Jennifer and had gastric bypass this past tuesday the 19 of june. i came home today and feel horrible with gas that just won't come out and a feeding tube along with the drain. i had a swelling in my intestine and the tube was put in as a precaution in case of a problem. My question to all of you is: what should I be feeling at this early stage? Should I have have this gas floating around in me that won't come out, making me uncomfortable? I know the drain and the feeding tube are enough to make you crazy but the gas is an added attraction that I could do without

From what your describing and what I remember, you may be feeling bloated from the air they pump into your abdomen so they have more room to do surgery. The surgeons stress that walking helps you pass the gas (flatulence and burping) and they're right. Its painful and uncomfortable to do, a nd you may not wanna hear it, but it really does help. I know with me it did.

Jennifer, Hello hun and congrats on having your surgery! I did not have the feeding tube though I did have the drain. I did not feel much from the drain but I did have really bad GAS! OUCH, I felt so bad from that gas for a while and Gas X seemed to help a little! Walking helps also. I would check with your Dr to see if all is normal but I am sure it is. I wish you a quick recovery!

I had laproscopic RNY. But today I feel much better thanks to the release of all that gas.To coin a phrase from an old commercial "Oh what a relief it is". The drain should come out next Wednesday but the G-Tube is another story. One Dr. said 3 weeks and the other said 4weeks. Very Very annoying and in another week and a half i have to go back to work. That is going to be an experience. But it will all be worth it down the road i am sure. i thank you for your reply as well as all the other people who took the time out to write ,Jennifer
