Pre op testing
Hi,
Yeah! I had my pre op testing done today at sisters charity hospital. The nurse who did my ekg and blood draw, was the most unpersonable women I have ever met. Talking to her was like talking to a wall. No personality at all very unfreindly. I hope I have a better nurse then her for my surgery. The guy who did my chest xray was really nice, a great personality. I even thanked him for giving me a normal size gown to put on, not the enormous ones that they usally give me , where I could fit like 3 people in it. That made me feel good. He asked me what type of surgery are you having and I said gastric bypass and he said really! I would have never guessed that in a million years. I said thanks that was sweet but yes I am 100lbs over weight. He made my day. Wow Now it is really setting in, that I am having surgery in 9 days!!!!!
I am getting excited. I don't even feel nervous at all. Is that normal? I am going to go on a liquaid diet the week before, I start monday. It is not required but I herd it really hurts if you have to make a bowl movment after you have open Rny. So I am gonna make sure that wont be an issue. I hope everyone has a good weekend.
Sheila

Wow those nine days will fly by. I wish you all the luck in the world. I found the OR nurses to be nice. So where the nurses on the 3rd floor. I know a lot of doctors recommend the liquid diet pre-operatively. I did it for the day before the surgery. Had no problems at all post operatively as far as bowel movements were concerned. No pain associated with it. Both my daughter and I had our first BM on the thrid day post-operatively. Pretty much just like they had said it would be. I really never got nervous either. Just excited. The thought of that new beginning was all I could think about.
Again, good luck to you.

I had my pre-op stuff done at sisters also. I agree they are really not nice like I was told. the staff at the clinic and at the hospital need to realize that they do this all the time, its our first time and tell us more then they think we know. I would like to know what happens to me when I get to the hospital. I was mad as hell, I was eairly, they told me to go eat and come back. Hello I am a fat person, I dont want to eat, but I did eat. The drive was good, we made good timing there however on the way back was horable we got in that storm and it was crazy. After I went back up to the floor of the pre-op the wait was not long after that, really none however, they are kind of rude. There chairs are good. There not just the small ones who have to squize into. It was nice. The x-ray girl I had was also nice. She looked at me and said, wow I would have never thought. You dont look big at all. I was happy, but I hear that all the time. So anyways I do agree, they are rude. And to know that half of them are surgery patients them self is all the more scarry. Hope the floor nurses are better. and going to take lots of adavian to relax..
