Hello all, I don't know if I am doing this right. My surgery date is on Tuesday June 26th. I am nervious as never before. Something is strange. I have had a lot of surgerys. Seems like I am taking things to an extrime. Like I am making sure everthing is done as if I am dieing or something. Is this ok, am I normal. I cant wait to have this done so I can calm down. I am having it at sisters hospital and dr p is doing the surgery. Any advice to make this last few days move quicker. I am sooooooo scared...help out please...
Hiya!
What your feeling seems absolutely normal! From what I know of myself and from all of the postings here that I have read...99% of us feel the same way. I tell you, on May 8th, the day I had my surgery, I was in my gown awaiting surgery and wanted to leave, back out. I felt the exact way about going to the extreme just to lose weight.
Now, 6 weeks out of surgery, I'd do it again! I feel alive!!! Something I haven't felt in so long. so, no worries, kiddo...you're not going crazy or anything of the sort! Best of luck next week!!!

Believe me your not alone in your anxiety. It is completely understandable. I went on line and made out some free on line will and documentation of where my possessions would go (not that I have much). Also made out a form of where I should be buried, funeral home, pastor, church..... talk about a little overboard. Just wanted to go into surgery knowing I had done what I felt necessary as a single mother. In my heart I knew that there were going to be no problems or complications, but I wanted to be practicle also. I had my surgery by Dr. Carauana in May. It went great. I am sure your's will too. Dr. P is very personalable. He did the post op care on my daughter after her surgery with Dr. C because it was his turn on call for the weekend. We liked him very much. I am very sorry to hear he is leaving the practice. When is he officially done there? Will Dr. C be doing your follow up care?
Best of luck to you!

Yes what you are feeling is VERY normal hun, if you did not worry then I would think something has to be wrong. This is a major change in your life and body! SOOO worth it but SOOO hard! For me what I did to help was write my thoughts down and keeping everything in order is a good thing, making sure you have everything covered give you peace of mind and that is all good.
It is something we are wanting to do, not something we have to do though I worked myself up enough to say I HAD to do this for my health and it seemed to help some how.
Now I am working on the PS part of it and that is even harder!
I wish you all the best hun!

I don't even have a date for my surgery yet, I am still in the docotr's visits phase, and I am having the same feelings. I have had many surgeries (i.e. tonsilectomy at 31 years old--really painful and intense) but I did not think twice (I just prayed that since I would not eat after surgery I would get skinny-- never happened).
But, from the 11 people I know who have had WLS, they have ALL gone through this (acutally it is about 14 people now). My one friend called me up last October telling me which Pastor she wanted to do the sermon and what music... Needless to say she is 8 months post op and down 110 pounds. She is a new person!
Stay strong and positive. I do not know your faith, but I have faith in Jesus Christ. It says in Proverbs, (I forgot where), but one who trusts in the Lord shall be safe. So fo me, I don't trust in the people in charge or the cir****tances, I just trust in God and I have never been let down.
Hope this does not offend you.
Either way, I can tell you those feelings are normal just like everyone has said. Think about the end result and the long awaited outcome.
You will be fine, happy, healthy & adding abut 15 years to your life!
