What to do with all this stuff...

I had my surgery almost 9 months ago and have spent a fortune on clothing.  I have so many clothes that I can no longer use.  I would like to try and find a re-sale shop or something like that to try and not take a total loss on the clothing.  I am super happy that my size is getting smaller but I don't have the money to keep replenishing my wardrobe.  If anyone has any suggestions, that would be awesome.  I live in long island new york so something in that area would be great. Thanks!

Hello hun, I know the feeling with the clothes, I shop at Wal-Mart most of the time now until after my PS and I see where I will be for sure. How about trying the Ebay thing? It sure worked good for me and now I have a store for other things but it started me off fine. Also you can get some new stuff on there as well at really cheap prices. I wish you the best hun!

We have a clothing exchange at our surgeon's office. We exchange clothes with each other because it isn't worth it to spend money when you are losing at a rapid weight.  Instead of buying, just exchange. Works out great. We do that here and we only bought under clothes as we went along and just exchanged shirts, pants etc.

I'm in the same boat as you.  I just donated 17 bags of clothing to Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Long Island and the Veterans.  I believe there is a Thrift Shop in Northport (Salvation Army).  You  might want to try there.  I've been getting great clearance deals at Fashion Bug and JC Penney.  I just bought a pair of jeans at JC Penney this weekend for $10 (size 18) and a jean jacket for $5 (both on the clearance rack in the Women's section).   I know that some hospitals have an exchange.  Dr. Cooperstone's office has one in Syosset (North Shore LIJ).  Maybe you can check with them and ask Fern how it works.  I hope this helps.

I started out at size 30/32, so I had all my clothes at that size.  I had nothing smaller since I'd been that size for over 15 years.  I was able to donate alot of my larger clothes to the local Salvation Army thrift store.  You dont find alot of larger sizes there.

I know that around here in Syracuse, we have quite a few support groups and we have brought in bags and boxes of clothes for people to go through and take home. Anything not wanted gets donated to good will.  I just thought I'd share what I do. :)  Good luck!

Thrift shops are an option to buy/sell, I personally would go to walmart get 1 pari black and bue pants in a sze thn have tops that were more forgiving to say last me a few sizes, I donated my clothing after to salvation army, I didn't spend the time or effort to sell, I also stopped losing about 7-8 months out, everyone is different there. It wasn't until after PS I even needed differnt clothes, then again once I regained 20# I am now back in 12 s my 8-10 so saving may of not been a bad idea either I didnt oh well. hugs!
