I remember feeling the same way Betsy. It hits people different times and different ways. If you have made peace with your decision, then seek support from those who are willing, like us. Your family will probably come around once they see what a great success you will be. Hugs, Amy

I know EXACTLY how you feel!! (lack of support) BUT I'm having the last laugh now (6 months post-op and down 81 lbs) and will NEVER forget who was there and wasn't during the most frightening experience of my life. Looking back, I am so thankful that it all went so smoothly but you always have to be prepared for the worst. Life is stranger than fiction and I have always been the exception to the rule, so was anticipating to be THE ONE that somethng happened to. Thankfully, it did not. The best way to help yourself in the future will be to take someone else under your wing when you remember how alone you felt. If you are, then someone else is more than likely going through the same. I am doing that now and the rewards are so inspirational and appreciated. It is nice to feel this by someone who otherwise, would have gone it ALONE!

Your husband might be scared at this point- I really hope he will be supportive after your surgery. I wanted to have surgery 2 years ago and my husband didn't even want to talk about it- he didn't understand and was scared. I brought him to a support group meeting- and it was eye opening for him. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and he is very supportive-- Wishing you well..... Jackie
