Hi guys, I'm a newbie here. Thinking about the Lap Band. Anyone here have any opinions onn Dr. Christine Ren or Dr. Marina Kurian?

Hi, I dont have the lap-band but you should check into Dr. Rens partner, Dr. Fielding. He is very experienced and actually has the lap-band himself. He is also super cool. Good luck!

I've had my consult with Dr. Ren and I love her. But I'm going for RNY. If you want the LapBand, I would definitely go with Dr. Fielding, her partner, although they both do LapBand. Sorry, I don't know the other surgeon you mentioned. Good luck. Rachelle

Hi Shara, I had surgery with Dr. Roslin, one of Dr. Kurian's partners. In terms of surgical excellence, this practice is one of the best in manhattan. She is an extremely gifted surgeon, and judging by the responses at the support group, her patients love her, Dr. Shah (the 3rd partner in the practice, also gets raves from his patients). FYI she was the one that performed Al Rokers surgery, and they perform the surgeries at Lennox Hill Hospital, which was a benefit in my mind. I thought the hospital was really well staffed and proficent in meeting my post op needs. Hope this helps. Scott PS I choose Dr. Roslin because I believed he was the surgeon that best met my needs (I was having the DS), but any of the surgeons in that practice would have been a good choice.

Odd you ask that. When I had my pre-op stuff in Syracuse last week, I mentioned that my sister, who lives in the Bronx is interested in LAP BAND. Marcie, my nurse, gave me Dr. Ren's name. Her hubba bubba was the first to do the bands in the US. They've both done with in great number. Him more so than her. I believe the practice out of NYU. I understand they're both incredible!!!!! Look them up! Good luckers!

That is Dr. Fielding. I knew they were dating but I do not think they are married yet...then maybe I'm wrong. He is great. I met w/ him twice and he is too funny.

You asked and I will offer you my opinion: Kurian ... Kurian ... and Kurian ... at least out of the choices you offered. My surgeon is Mitch Roslin -- Dr Kurian's partner -- so I'm partial to him, of course ... but I like her just fine. Good luck and God bless ...
