I would like to hear from anyone who has had either a positive or negative experience with this type of surgery!

http://www.harperhospital.org/harper/bariatric/procedures/sapalawood.html Sapala-Wood MicropouchTM The Sapala-Wood Micropouchtm process was developed by physicians at Harper University Hospital and is the result of 17 years of focused experience in bariatric surgery involving several thousand patients. It's an operation in which the stomach is reduced to the size of the gastric cardia. This is the critical difference; the cardia is durable and does not stretch over time. The cardia also contains very few acid cells, so patients with heartburn or GERD are virtually cured of their acid reflux symptoms. While the standard sized gastric bypass pouch is about 30 cc or the size of a lemon, the Micropouchtm is about 2 cc or the size of a grape. http://gastricbypass.netfirms.com/micropouch.htm http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/wlsjourney/surgery+types.php Jamie

I had this surgery through the Cori Center (aka Surgical Solutions for Weight Loss) located in Patchogue, NY with Dr. Prichep in August 2006. I've lost 77 lbs. so far with 11 lbs. to go. I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever. I can eat whatever food I want but I also stick to the "rules" of the right things to eat. I can eat at least 4 - 6 oz. of food at each meal. If you want to discuss this more in detail, you can email me at home: [email protected]. Hope this helped. Lynn

My sister had her micropouch done at the same Cori center feb 2005. She went from 280 to 160 and is doing great.
