I had RNY on 4/3 and I am not feeling hungry but I'm feeling just blah. NOTHING tastes good and I think I'm experiencing head hunger and I want to know if anyone else has felt this way 3 weeks out. I don't want to do anything, even though I have returned to work. I come home and all I want to do is lie down. Please give me some good news about this, especially about this awful taste in my mouth.

Awww, I am sorry that you aren't feeling well....maybe the bad taste in your mouth is ketosis (when I started to lose weight fast on the Atkins diet I got a horrible taste in my mouth due to ketosis)...Hope you are feeling better soon! NoraLynn

First off, congrats to you on your journey. I remember that feeling of nothing tasting right, not feeling hungry and feeling really tired. My surgeon said I could start exercising/walking at a week, but it took me awhile before I felt energetic enough. I think it's a combination of things, hormones affecting you, but this too shall pass. Things will start to taste better and you will feel better, it just takes a little time with some people. Take care, Sue

Thank you Sue. I'm just not used to jumping back into action. This is so hard and actually harder than I thought it would be but I'm hopeful that I'll be back to somewhat normal soon

Head hunger is such a cruel joke! LOL. I had my surgery on March 19th and I'm only now starting to understand it. Hang in there with me. As for the mouth, try to keep swishing out with listerine and make sure to drink your water. Good Luck.

RNY on 04/03/07 with
Hi , and Congratulations on your new life! I also had RNY on 4/3/07. I am feeling good. I have been walking since the Hospital and I am back to work also as of 4/16/07. I walk every other day after work for 1 hour and I feel energized. I to get head hunger some times but I drink water and make myself busy.. There are days that I feel tired and also go home and lie down, but we have to remember that we just had Major Surgery and our bodies need to adjust to this drastic change. We also have to be mentally strong.. As for the taste in the mounth I had that after surgery but then it went away a few days after. I wish you lots of Luck and welcome to the loser side, as this is all new to me too..

Wow, that is really great for you! You sound like you bounced back quickly. I too went to work 2 weeks later but had to do 1/2 days for a week and I am still tired. I find it hard to get all the protein in and I think that is why. I'm trying every day though to improve that. Thanks
