20 POUNDS
HHHmmmmm ..... when I got weighed in during the pre-admission testing ... I was 239 pounds ... two weeks after the surgery when I went in to see my doctor for my first weigh in, I was down to 220. 10 days after that first weigh in ... I checked this morning and saw that I was down to 219. This means I lost 20 pounds so far ... HOWEVER ... shouldnt I be losing more since I notice I dont exactly eat a lot / much. I do eat SUPER SMALL portions ... actually I would say about 6 to 8 bites then I stop but I do eat every 3 hours. Am I the only one who is experiencing this or is there someone out there who is going thru the same thing I'm going thru. I had lap band on April 3rd. Maybe I expect too much when I'm not even a month into the lap band. HHHHmmmmmm .... I'm confused. Dont get me wrong ... I'm happy I'm not gaining weight and soooo happy I lost 20 pounds IN THREE WEEKS.
Also, my next visit with Dr. Powers is on the 1st of June. I'm hoping that's when he adjusts the band to a smaller size so instead of 6 to 8 bites of food, I can do maybe just 3 to 5 bites only.
Is it right to feel this way?

Hey I know how you feel i feel the same way, I went in at 235 and i now weigh 210 and the scale just dosent seem to want to budge out of that, I had the rny though not the lap band. I too dont eat that much but seem to be hungry every 3 or 4 hours, I walk every day and just joined a karate class for exercise, its not that Iam not grateful for the 25 pounds lost but i feel like maybe it should be going down faster since Iam no where near eating what i used too. any one have words of advice for us.
First off, congrats to you both on your WLS journey.
My advice, and no one wants to hear it, lol, is put the scale away for now. Don't weigh right now. Weight fluctuates back and forth, so weighing every two weeks (according to my support group) is when you get a more accurate reading. I would only weigh myself when I went to my surgeon's appts because I would get frustrated if I didn't see what I thought I should. I was losing, but not always what I thought. We all tend to be our own worst enemies and judges, so my advice is follow your drs regimen, put the scale away, and enjoy what life is going to bring.
Take care,
Sue
Hello everyone... HAPPY FRIDAY TO ALL ... although here in New York its raining and its foggy ... this is my favorite weather for staying in from work, snuggled up in my super comfy couch either watching a great flick or reading a great mystery suspense novel ... BUT ASIDE FROM THAT ... THANK YOU ALL SOOOOOO MUCH for responding.
I did get so many ideas
for trying to cope with my slight frustration ... I will hide the weighing scale for now and just weigh in whenever I go to my cute doctor
.
I'll talk with him too about how often I seem to be hungry ... although the portions of what I eat are more like this :
9:00 am - 1 hardboiled egg for breakfast
(half a bottle of water or the whole bottle)
11:30 am - 4 saltines crackers & less than 3 oz of chicken salad in a can (half of can)
(half a bottle of water or the whole bottle)
2:30 - 3:00 pm (usually in between this hour) 1 slice of bread & 3 oz of tuna salad
(half a bottle of water or the whole bottle)
5:00 pm - 4 saltine crackers and the rest of the chicken salad left from this morning
(half a bottle of water or the whole bottle)
7:00 pm - 3 oz beef and 3 Tablespoons of mashed potatoes.
(half a bottle of water or the whole bottle)
If around 9pm I get hungry again, I down another bottle of water or I eat a stick of low fat cheese stick.
I am pretty much following the weekly diet plan (with some variations) my dietitian gave me in which she told me to eat 7 times a day ( small portions ) because she wants my metabolism to get used to the fact that I now eat often but in just small amounts. This way, my metabolism won't store the food I eat. In short, she's rehabilitizing my eating habits. I only used to eat just once, the most twice a day but in really big portions. What's worse, I eat dinner around 9 or 10 pm.
Because of the meal plan chart my dietitian gave me, I used that as a basis to plan my everyday meals.
Sometimes, I feel guilty eating ... like I'm not supposed to be eating at all ... which is wrong of course.
Oh well ...
Thanks again to everyone *****sponded. You've all been sooo great !
Luv Hugs and Teddybears to all .... ~ Francesca
