Hi ... I dont know if grits is something you can eat right away when you come home from surgery. I had a lap band done so I'm quite restricted with the type of food I can or I'm allowed to eat. I love rice, pasta and bread but I noticed that rice gets stuck with me. I'm still hesitant about trying bread bec a lot of my friends that did the same surgery I did have told me that they cant eat it bec it gets stuck. You should speak with your doctor about what you can and cant eat. He or she will be able to tell you the type of foods you can digest and what you can substitute for grits. Hope this helps but really, the best person to ask should be your doctor.

My surgery is May 8th. I never got any diet info until 3 days ago when I went for my pre-op stuff. Definitely ask your doc. My doc has a different plan than that of one of my co-workers. Good Luck!

Hello Shevone, I'm from Shaolin, not too far. My Dr says I can have most foods blended, but to try an concentrate on protein and low sugar foods.

Sipping is best for the first few days...I am just now learning all this. It gets a little crazy...but it is so much fun. Listen to your body and it WILL tell you what to do. PROTEIN is best!

I know getting your protein in is KEY for success but I would defiantly say to talk it over with your Doctor. Every surgeon recommends something different. Good luck!!! -Nicole
