I am not sure love, but the best thing for you to do is find out what level you are at with it...ask if it is moderate or high...find out. Talk to the surgeon as well. (((HUGS)))

I couldn't answer that, but like Chelle said I would find out what level exactly it is at. Then maybe call the surgeons office and ask them if it will affect anything. Good luck I've got my fingers crossed for you!!! -Nicole

I've had an under active thyroid for years. It does not mean that you can't have the surgery. It means that you should see an endocrinologist as soon as possible to get it regulated. He will probably put you on synthroid. Once it's regulated, there should be no problem having surgery. I should say that is might take a little time to get it regulated though. Some PCP's think they can treat thyroid disease themselves, but I definitly think you should see an endocrinologist, especially if you want to get this regulated quickly. Good luck to you. Joanne

Hi Judy, I have been taking medication for underactive thyroid for a number of years and it was not an issue for surgery at all. I am 3 weeks post op, down 20 lbs and feeling great. Good luck to you. Janet

Dropping in from Little Rock, AR I too have the same problem and no it will not affect your surgery. You just need to make sure you get on medication.
