More confused then normal.......??????
I called the surgeons office today to find out what my daughter could take for a bad cough (she is 3 weeks post op) and they said she could take any kind of cough or cold medicine and that mucinex was wonderful. So I promtly went to the drug store and bought some and got it home (of course I was too rushed to look at it in the store) and it is a 12 hour extended release type medicine. Everything we have read and studied said no extended release medications at all. Any idea why the surgeons office would suggest this when it goes against everything we have been told as WLS patients? Anyone else ever been told it was ok to use Mucinex? I am just so confused...........lol.

Sally...Musinex is the WAY TO GO!!
I agree with Andi, the extended release isn't in my system to get the FULL EFFECT. The Musinex DX starts working really fast and is a great expectorant...
** one word of caution... (sorry for being graphic) **
If you can't "hack up" flem...you may not like Musinex....my hubby has issues with hacking and hated when he took musinex...b/c it loosened everything...but he couldn't get it "up/out"...and it only exhausted him further...and made him really frustrated!
For me....I'm GREAT at hacking....so it helped me get better sooo quickly.
The other thing I'd recommend is ZICAM....it's a natural (homeopathic) healer...and really cuts the length of your illness...now days they have Zicam for all sorts of symptoms. (Even allergies.)
Good Luck Sally
