Geez.. this is a long process!! (Ellis Hospital RNY Process..OH..THE WAIT !)
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I am like way impatient!! I started this process in January!
# 1 made an appoint w/ my PCP to get letter of medical necessity.
#2 went to mandatory seminar end of january.
# 3 had to wait another month to get in to see Surgeon.-FEB
#4 Had psych appointment and cleared from psych in mid march.
#5 Still no word from office when I get this packet they send you with all your appointments: nutriionist, endoscope, pulmonary, cardio, medifast appointment & tentative surgery date. (I have to do exactly 5 weeks on medifast is what they told me before I can even have surgery and htey set you up with a medifast appointment)
I was hoping (& needing a june surgery date!) eeeks !!
How did you all get through this???
ME

I started the process in January as well- I am going through the process at Albany Med. I just completed my 10% weight loss and have an appt. with the surgeon on MAy 8. Yes- it is a long process- but in the long run, you will be glad that you went through it all- you did not mention a sleep test- inquire about it- because, the Anesthesia Society has passed a safety issue that anyone with a BMI over 40 needs a sleep study. They have been known to cancel surgeries. I would hate to hear that you were delayed due to that. At any rate, it will go fast- mine sure has- I was told after the appt. with the surgeon,it wil be 4 weeks for surgery- soo I am hoping for June myself. Kepp your chin up- you are almost there-

I completely understand your frustration....
it really is a very tedious and long waiting process to get insurance clearance and surgery clearance!
I went into see my surgeon at the beginning of September....(it took me nearly a month to get myself to call and then finally get scheduled for a consult...) and then my actual surgery wasn't until 4/19 of the next year!!
Ooooh, it was agony...I remember.
The only thing that go me thru it -honestly- was blogging! I started a BLOG on Blogger...you can do the same here on your profile...and I blogged the heck out of my blog....I posted tons of pictures of "just whatever"...and wrote about whatever "MIFFED ME"....
My biggest gripe was my "nutritionist/therapist" - who I called the LOON! B/c she was sooooo not qualified to do what she was doing...but I needed her to write me my rec for my insurance...and I didn't want to start over with someone new! Anyhow...if you are interested in checking out what I did....or if it may encourage you in your journey...check out my blog at - www.femmemodeweightloss.blogspot.com
Good LUCK! You can do this...the time will be over b4 you know it!!

HEY SEAN,
how are you doing???
Yeah, the wait is awhile!! I just got a call from bariatric center on fulton ave & they said the ball will finally start rolling next week! Finally! I just got my nut appointment in the mail today and my appointment for her isn't until the 3rd week of may!!! On the internet site for the center it says a totally different thing regarding the time line... I guess that needs to be updated! I'm kinda mad though my PCP'S asst had hers whole process done within 30 ddays from start to finish and here I am waiting & waiting!! I I just want this done !
Have a great day!
