Question for the ladies....
Okay so my friend had wls last year and knows I'm going through the process now and told me to get ready to say goodbye to my breasts. She said since surgery she has went down almost 2 cup sizes she is 23 the same age as me and I'm not ready to give em up
!!!! Is this just something that comes along with wls?? Also I am pretty well proportioned, but I have big calves and thighs [joys of being a woman] anyways so I keep imagining me losing all this weight and then still having these HUGE legs and calves and never gaining any definition to them or having smaller calves and all my fat from my thighs sagging over my knees making me look like a side show spectacle

Hi Nicole,
The leg issue, to some degree, can be helped with exercise so there is hope!
As far as the boobs go: everyone is different but my boobs have left the building! Gone! Kaput! And...the skin is saggy and empty looking...BUT...you are half my age so that part may not be an issue.
Have you lost weight in the past and if so, did your boobs go with it? Mine always did so I was prepared. WLS doesn't really make you lose differently than you did pre-op...just faster!
Good luck and hugs,
Karen

Hi Nicole,
I too lost my boobs. They now look like long worn out tube socks with some golf balls at the end.
I was a 44DD and am now a 34 C. Big difference but I guess I would rather they deflated then stay fat....
As far as my legs go I always thought I had big calfs and thighs. I measured every month and my calfes seemed to never get smaller and then all of a sudden they are slim. I can now go in stores and buy boots off the shelf which I could never do before. Good luck!
HUGS, Chris

I haven't had lap band yet but saw a plastic surgeon about a year ago, he told me to lose weight first, then have a breast reduction (am a 38or 40D) but he did definitely tell me the breast consists of FAT and losing weight would help them "shrink" a little. I would be glad if a side effect of the lap band is reduction as I agree with you, they are over-rated and are a nuisance generally! (in my opinion). Someone in my office had something called Smart lipo on her chin, it is like a combo laser-liposuction, no general anaesthesia, just a pill before and a shot they gave her at Dr. Katz in NYC and the difference is great, she looks very good without a double chin anymore and no surgery or general anaesthesisa.
Hi Nicole,
Yep, I definitely lost my boobs first. My butt shortley afterward (I still can't believe this part!) My thighs and calves are not as small as I would prefer, but I've been working out 5 days a week, trying to see how much smaller they'll get. I do have a skin issue, but not as bad as could've been. Starting to consider plastic surgery in my future, if only I win lotto or can get the insurance to pay for it though.
Good luck,
Maryellen
