10 days out....14lbs!

Hi all, Just a quick update. I went for my first checkup with the nutritionist this morning. Everything is going really well. I have lost 13 lbs since I left the hospital and 14 total since surgery. I can't believe it! I was so excited. It's really amazing, the self confidence and energy I feel already. I was allowed to start adding in some soft foods today so I had about 3 tablespoons of farina this morning and then for lunch I had some pureed chicken spread (I know sounds gross, but its just chicken breast pureed with broth so its ok). I got a little nervous because I could have eaten the whole 1/2 cup of the chicken. I stopped eating it and put the rest away, because it seemed like I was doing something wrong if I kept eating. Shouldn't I have been full? The good news is I was able to tolerate both items with no problem. I asked the nutritionist about a protein suppliment and she told me not to get one, that I should be getting it from what I eat so I am going to do my best to eat high proteins foods. The other question I have is about yogurt. Does anyone have a brand that they use without dumping? I was looking and I could not find any yogurt with less that 15 grams of sugar. I am terrified of dumping and I don't want to take a chance. Thanks everyone again for your support and encouragement. Janet

Wow Janet! 14 pounds in 2 weeks! You go girl! I'm glad to hear you're tolerating mushies well. As far as yogurt, there are flavored yogurts with Splenda that are wonderful made by Dannon. I would really avoid sugar like the plague now. I just dumped for the first time ever the other day on of all things, applesauce and I can say with certainty that I never want to do that again! Horrible!!! You go girl! xoxoxox Amy

So it sounds as if you are doing terrific and being able to handle the pureed food too. P.S.I eat the Lite & Fit Dannon yogurt (no fruit chunks) and do well with that. Take Care~~

I didnt do yogurts but i did eat stallone puddings often. Lots of protein and taste great without the sugar. Banana is the best.... Keep up the good work..... LisaMarie
