Nervous
I just want to say thanks for the responses to my post. I just started this journey toward WLS and am very nervouse I plan to have the Lap Ban I met with Dr. Ahmed and they told me they could not help me because my insurance won't pay enough so a family friend reccommended Dr Brathwaite and after reading post I am skepticle. Can anyone else reccommend a surgeon in Suffolk County. Your help is appreciated. Also when I met with Dr Ahmed I made all my appointments I did cancel the ones with his office but kept my consults with pulmonologist and Heart Doctors. was this a good idea. Thanks
You could also try Dr. Alan Geiss, he is associated with the hospital in Syosset. I know someone who had lap band with Dr. Geiss and is doing very well. You could also check with Dr. Lester Cooperstone if you decide on RNY bypass. I'm sorry you could not go through with it with Dr. Ahmad, I had him and after interviewing 4 surgeons, he was my final choice. I would NOT go with Dr. Brathwaite unless you don't mind being treated like you are on an assembly line. Dr. Brathwaite's approach to surgery can, at times, be rather aggressive. He wanted to remove my stomach entirely and that was a HUGE RED flag for me. Other surgeon's agreed. They all can't be wrong. I attended Dr. Geiss's support meeting for the lap band before I made my final decision to have the bypass instead with Dr. Ahmad.
Hi, I just had surgery with Dr. Geiss 7 days ago and I would recommend him or his partner Dr. Colin Powers. Go to their seminar and talk with them or their staff. It was the seminar that convinced me to do this. Hope that helps. Below is his link.
