I met w/ Dr. Cooperstone this past Thusday, he works at North Shore University Hospital in Syosset. Has anyone had their surgery performed by him? If so, I'd love to hear your story! Any info would be helpful. Thanks! Kathy

My girlfriend had Dr. Cooperstone and had a successful surgery. He is great. She would swear by him and recommends him highly. However, he only performs his surgery Open. I wanted it done laproscopic. I had a consult with him and he was very instrumental in helping me select the right surgeon for my RNY bypass. He was 1 of 4 surgeons I consulted with and I liked him. HOwever, I wanted it done lap to lower the risks of post-op complications. I heard the hospital is great too. If you want me to connect with you my girlfriend (Roseann), I could give you her email address. She lives in Maine now. I will tell you this, Fern is the BEST when it comes to support meetings. They are intimate and small and out of all the places I have gone to, I think her support meetings are better by a mile. I can't even say that about my own support meetings with the surgeon I chose. I wish you luck with your decision.

Thank you all so much! I've gotten the ball rolling (ie: appts w/ phychologist, nutritionist and PCP) I've also called into the sleep center....woo hoo! With everyday that passes I lean more towards actually going through with this!
