Hi-- Are we always going to think we're on a diet- counting, fat, protein, sugar, water, etc. My surgery is April 19 and I'm hoping I don't think about food as much as I do now......
COngrats on your surgery date of April 19th. I have to say yes you will always have to be aware of what you are putting in your mouth. This is a major lifestyle change. Right now you are thinking of food for reasons such as companionship, comfort, cure for bordem etc... The difference i find post op is that i am thinking about eating but more what i am going to eat then having to eat. Support and therapy are important things to keep in mind post op as well. THis is a lifelong battle even long after you reach goal. Good luck to you and we are here for you.

Jackie-
This is a great question !!! So many people think that once you have wls you never have to diet ever again. But this isn't true. I am 4+ years post op, and I've always had to watch everything I eat . I'm always on a "diet". I never eat and drink at the same time and try to never eat more than 1 1/2 cups of food in one sitting.
But on the upside, I notice that I am not as preoccupied by thoughts of food and the desire to eat all the time.
