Dr T Sterry

Hi; Has anyone had consultation/surgery with Dr Sterry? I'd appreciate any inpute/opinions before I go for my consult! Thank you :-)

I haven't had surgery with Dr. Sterry yet, but I did have a consultation a few weeks ago. I was very impressed with him. He did a presentation on his computer, assessed me and pretty much answered all my questions. I know two people who did have surgery with him and they both rave about him. I have to wait a few more months before I can even consider surgery, but his insurance person is very good. She called me a few days after the consultation and told me that even if I am not ready for the surgery that now is the time to start building the case for insurance. I look forward to have my work done by him. Sue

Jan - I am having an LBL with him on Wednesday, April 4th. I am very impressed with this man. I know a couple of folks who have used him and he is a colleague of my gastric bypass surgeon whom I trust enormously. Dr. Sterry is a professional and he is very down-to-earth and straight-forward. What I respect about him above his talent is that he is not the money-grubbing type of surgeon. Yes, he is pricey and of course he wants to get paid but he is very good at what he does and does not force you or pressure you into anything. He tells you what he can do for you as well as what is not realistic and then he lets you decide where you want to go from there. His staff are sweethearts and his financial coordinator knows her stuff and her advice regarding the insurance companies' criteria is on point. Further, I like that he is very meticulous and is VERY protective of his reputation and strives to continue to improve. He has extensive experience with weight loss patients, which is key because many plastic surgeons think that we are just like normal sized folks - only with more excess skin but we have certain issues during surgery that should be anticipated and only those surgeons experienced with removing large amounts of excess skin can give you the necessary peace of mind. Dr. Sterry is also one of the attending surgeons at Mt. Sinai's residency program so up and coming surgeons are learning from his expertise - which I am impressed with. Overall, you can tell that I am very happy that I picked Dr. Sterry as my 1st choice 2 years ago when I started looking into PS and I am happy that I waited until all things were in place so that I could go with him. I will update after surgery and I pray that I am as enthusiastic post-op. Judging from what other patients of his have said, I think I will be. If you haven't already done so, spring for the $100 consultation. I think you will be pleased! Good luck!
