New to message boards as well as lapband surgery. My surgery date is 4/11/07 and my friend suggested I get onto this site to learn more and although I am finding it very informative - I am overwhelmed at all I do not know. I have never even been in the hospital before! Assuming 3 weeks or so post-op you can re-introduce small portions of foods - is there anywhere on the site that has menu suggestions? My surgoen only has suggestions for pre-op and post op...not sure how to start-"re-eating" other than small portions chewed slowly. Thank you!

Hi Lisa. Congrats on you upcoming surgery date. Sorry that I don't have an answer for you because I had RNY. I just wanted to welcome you. Someone here will definetly know or there is a forum on this site specifically for lapband surgery patients. Good Luck~~ Diane

Your surgeon should have some type of program that you should be on post-op. We have a menu from our surgeons group. If you'd like to see it, just email me and let me know and I will certainly pass it on to you. Marie

Hi Lisa! I had lap RNY 8 days ago and I have a very strict diet plan for quite awhile. My surgeon (Albany, NY) insisted that we have a few visits with a nutritionist prior to surgery and we need to follow up with them starting 1 week postop. I think you could certainly get the actual menu plan for lap band if you have a nutritionist. My insurance pays for my visits, but I'm not not sure all insurances do. My suggestion is to ask your surgeon for a more detailed plan or ask him if he would recommend a nutritionist for you. Good luck. Jeannie
