Does any one take Lexapro or Ativan?

I was just put on Lexapro this week for a mood stablizer, so I am sure I will have to be on it for awhile before I see any benefit from it. Just came off of Paxil and that was a total HELL. My big problem is I can't sleep at night, Dr said to take Ativan at bed time, works for a couple hours then I am awake for the rest of the night. Don't know what I am going to do. Don't even feel like eating, guess that has its good and bad points. Would appreciate any helpful info, thanks. Linda

Hi Linda, I dont take either medication but do know that since surgery i have many sleeping issues. Most of the time i am up 2-3 times a night and not able to fall back asleep. Sometimes I use Benadryl to help me out, but even with that i sometimes only get 4-5 hours straight. The best thing for you is to discuss with your docs and try maybe a different type of sleep aid. One that they can prescrible. Atavin isnt really a sleep medication, its more for anxiety. It does knock you out initially however it dont usually last. Also it has addiction potential something you dont need to deal with. Call you primary doc or surgeon and see if there is something else they can try for you. That is my best advice. Good luck and keep us posted. LisaMarie

Sorry I don't have any helpful information for you, I just wanted to let you know I understand. I was on Paxil and it was terrible. I felt like a zombie all the time. Good luck with the new med. I hope you figure out something so you can sleep too!! Betsy
