I'm Home!!!
How's everyone doing??????? I'm doing great.... I'm not in that much pain and hardly used my morphine pump too!
I was walking around the night of my surgery and I've been great. I did get a little sick the day after my surgery when they gave me broth and jello for breakfast. The nusre in ICU gave me 3 little cups of broth and told me to drink them in 20 minute intervals.... well, I sipped the first one and saw I wasn't really full so I sipped the rest and I had one little cup of jello. OMGGGG... when I was walking around after I all of a sudden got bloated and I got really bad heartburn. So I went back into my bed and about 1/2 hour later I started feeling really queasy... NOT A GOOD FEELING.... So the nurse gave me some Pepcid and I fell asleep a little bit and when I woke up I felt SOOOOOO much better. But man o man. I definitely don't want to feel like that again. So I have been eating stuff very slow. Today was my first day on pureed foods in the hospital and I maybe ate a 1/4 of this soufle they gave me. I was so proud of myself cause I didn't want to pu**** and I still had the heartburn. But I was full but not crazy full.
I kept thanking my hubby for all his support and help and I kept thanking him for pushing me to do this. I know I'm gonna benefit from this totally!!!!!
Anyone have heartburn right after surgery though? The dietician told me that's normal.

Hi Michele
Saw you were from Medina- not far from me- I'm in Clarence- new to this board- I'm awaiting my insurance approval. When did you have surgery? The biggest thing I'm worried about is the food afterward-- I'd like to get my mind off food- but you have to be so careful in your choices, protein first, etc. that it makes me nervous.. Anything you'd like to share would be great.
Hi, you have the same name a my sister.I haven't had my surgery yet, not until May 21st. I too ,am nervous and not quite sure how everything is going to happen after the surgery. I was really surprised how fast I got my approval, it only took two weeks after the doc sent the paperwork in. But every ins is different. From what everyone says its protein, protein, protein, then your veges. Carbs are really hard and harsh for quite a while, one lady a relative of mine said the only way she can eat bread is to toast it, and she's a year out. Where would your surgery be at if you get approved, mine will be at Lockport Memorial. Who is your surgeon if you don't mind me asking. I'm going to Dr. DiBenedetto on Elizabeth Dr. Lockport, I really like him, he has a great personality and bedside manner. My page on here is bolzmed, or my e-mail address is [email protected] if you want to talk more and I can let you anything I have heard or know. Take care, hope I helped some.
